As someone who is not Greek, it is difficult for me to say how accurate this book is. However I can recognise it for what it is: a reflection of the love/hate relationship that the author has with his country. The sort of relationship that may feel familiar to many. So many of the statements he makes, could just have easily been made about my country - coincidentally (or not?) also Mediterranean.
