Status Updates From The Jungle

Such a fantastic book. My respect for immigrants has grown ten fold. Coming to the US in the late 17th/early 18th century was spirit crushing. We now have laws in place - some in part thanks to this book- to protect people… I can’t imagine the challenges faced by immigrants today has changed much. Someone is always looking to take advantage of “the weak”.
My heart goes out to Jurgis and Ona!

Sofar I’m hooked, barely dipped my toes in but it’s a start for a slow reader like me.
it’s starting so happy and excited but there are still mentions of the horrible stuff that we’ll delve into soon.
