Status Updates From Beautiful Stranger: A Memoi...

I totally understand and am glad that Donahue has so much empathy for this woman vomiting into a cup and leaving the cup in the laundry room, but I feel that only a very rich person would fail to understand that everyone considers this inconsiderate not because of their own mental health issues, but because it is in fact inconsiderate to vomit into a cup and leave that cup in a common area for someone else to clean.

"'Allow me,' and 'May I, Hopie?' became, when uttered into my neck with his hushed, hot-breathed, not-so-subtle suggestions." Am I missing something or is this sentence weirdly written? Became what? It's like Donahue forgot to finish this sentence and her editor didn't notice.
