Reading this as a companion to Yvvette Edwards The Mother and Brit Bennett's The Mothers, the three novels seem to go together, perspectives ftom three countries, UK, Sth Africa and US. All authors I've read before, so familiar with their styles, but different backgrounds and cultures.
