Any hope he’d had of sharing his grief, his sorrow, and hell, his life with Gabe, had dissipated like a sprinkling of dust in the wind. Gabe had become as necessary as a limb to Jeff. Now he was gone. And it was Jeff’s own fault.

I can't believe the low rating for this book. It's so intense, I can barely read more than a few pages in one go. OMG!!

This is so good. I'm getting chills down my spine. I know it's not the strongest romance but the fantasy/sci fi aspect has me hooked like crazy.

There was only one gift he could give Gabe in return for saving his daughter—finishing the wing and giving Gabe the ability to fly. Fly away from Jeff if he had to.

His fingers tightened around the rifle. If he’d had his spear, if he’d had both wings, if he was still a full angel, he could take on all the risk himself. The moddie wouldn’t stand a chance. But Gabe was broken.

I'm beginning to understand the logic of the story. But where did demons come from? This is so fascinating.

I absolutely love this story. The world building is brilliant.

Funny, it had been so long since he’d last had sex, perhaps he could be considered a virgin all over again.

“You don’t mind?” Gabe asked, surprised they were willing to let this go, an actual angel in their midst. While most from above looked at angels with awe, there was fear too, since they were the ones who enforced the morality laws.
“Boy, people come down here for all sorts of reasons.” She touched Ian on the shoulder as she walked past him. “I’m not gonna start judging now.”

“Why?”
“My family name. It’s Abraham.”

I can't believe Hank and Ian didn't look after Gabe now. Jeff is going to kill them.

All of these characters are amazing. I love how the focus isn't just on Jeff and Gabe here.

“The God AI? Come on, that’s a story they tell noobs who’ve just gotten their first ports.”
Chase shrugged. “You know the stories, Jeff. The God AI rules Heaven Corp, has its eyes everywhere, even down in Old Trent. If someone could hack a halo….”

I am so impressed with this concept. It's like a mix of religion, sci-fi and a dystopia, but you never know where the boundaries are.

This is a truly excellent piece of fiction. I could get lost in this world, with these characters. Absolutely brilliant.

“My dad takes care of me,” she said. “We don’t have angels here to save us.”
“No.” Gabe didn’t react to the anger in her voice. “You have demons.”

The God AI....this is really interesting.

I'm actually wondering when something bad will happen to justify the low rating, because so far this story is spectacular. Great characters, great world building and a fascinating plot. Couldn't ask for more.

The world building is REALLY excellent.

You know I need to read this, even if these angels seem to be cybernetically modified humans. But... angels!! <3
