okay so as I understand it now- I am reading the version of the script that was originally meant for the actual Jackie Chan (in which he plays all these other versions of himself- including the actor Jackie Chan we know in our universe) Frankly? It isn't as emotionally captivating.

also I think in this version of the script Joy and Becky are already married? Joy is insinuated to be older than she is in the later scripts.

I'm trying to experience this with an open mind because it's a draft script from five years before this movie entered production. However, the absence of Evelyn and Waymond is really felt. And the relationship between mother and daughter is swapped to father and daughter which isn't translating well.

like understand Evelyn Wang was originally named Jackie Chan, idk if they were expecting chan himself to play this character or what...

Jamie Lee Curtis' character was also originally male- It seems the early drafts of this movie were very male-centric.
