Thoughtful Breaths by Peter Crowther.

Three chapters down, I don't enjoy the "what if this happened instead of this during the war" parts, and they don't seem to have a real lesson or maybe I'm just struggling to glean one, but I do remember skipping episodes of the series so I guess that tracks. The last one I read had to do with a magical book and escapism which I guess was interesting, but I'd like more meaning from them.

I've only finished chapter 1, with short stories I like to read atleast 3 so I have a range to form an opinion
