Status Updates From Dreadnought (The Clockwork ...

I read "Boneshaker" nigh on 10 years ago but I remember it being a bit of a drag. This one has been much more exciting and makes me want to find out what's going to happen next!

Why the samhill didn't the Dreadnought fire up on the tracks before the Shenandoah caught up with them? Steampunk? Yes! Zombies? Yes! Deliberately ignoring the most obvious course of action in a plot? Goddammit!

Great storytelling, I love the perspective of the “zombies” vs the first one. Gives a fresh terror

Decided to switch books for a bit

Home with a sick kid gave me some reading time

OK, got to a plot point that ties it with the first book in the series. Now to find how they come together.

Got some pages in around the graphic novel binge I am on now.

I like Cherie Priest, loved Boneshaker, but couldn't finish this one. Too dark for this widow....

ZOMBIES! :)

So far it's lacking some of the magic that Boneshaker (Clockwork Century #1) had. I'm hoping it starts to capture the steampunk feel soon, but so far it just feels like basic historical fiction. Not bad, per se, but I want more flavor.

... when things were the quietest, Mercy could hear something whistle or whisper among the mountain peaks ... so far away, and she could hear it faintly but sharply. It made her think of the prick of a pin left inside a dress after alterations: sudden, bright, and small, but faintly alarming.

This is such a long, rambling epic steam punk adventure. I'm enjoying it, but I keep waiting for the action to start.

I just flew home from Charlotte, so it's funny to hear about Mercy booking a dirigible flight to Charlotte.
