"On Dartmoor, the ponies were shaggy, the sheep were shaggy, and we wished we were shaggy, too, whenever we stepped from the car and were struck by the bitter, bone-piercing cold of the upland wind."

This book was such a joy to read. With everyday filled with new information and new concerns with the pandemic, this book is the ultimate escape. Walk through a forest that the kings of England hunted in, or go on an old Roman Road. See the flowers, hear the birds.

I am thoroughly enjoying this book! Currently, the entire planet is fighting a terrible pandemic, COVID-19. The news is grim, so many people are sick or have died. This book is my respite from all of this. I pick up this book and join the author in England searching for birds and nature. Walking through woods, long drives through English countryside... wonderful!!
