I hope Teilhard saw something I'm not seeing. His hope is mighty daring.

Teilhard was a brilliant thinker and had great insight. He was also a very serious optimist. Says a lot about a man who experienced the trenches in WWI.

Once again, I appreciate Pierre Teilhard's optimism, but I am frustrated by the sense that he is reinventing a perfectly good wheel. Is he offering a new view of humanity and faith? Or is he clarifying the one that Christ offers us if rightly understood?

In 2016 I abandoned this book. I had read LeRoy's biography at the beginning of it. I've picked it up and have continued with Teilhard's Preface. First I read Louis Savary's explanation of the Preface. With that understanding, I enjoyed the Preface and am encouraged to read more. Savary goes through the book step by step with pauses to read the actual text. He also connects it to some of Teilhard's other writing.

My paperback edition of the book contains "TEILHARD DE CHARDIN: THE MAN" by PIERRE LEROY, s.j. which is 42 pages of a 155-page book. I just finished that. I will continue reading in the Kindle version which does not have this part.

Okay, I'm going to start this one over. I never got past the introduction, so I'm trying again.... just not right now.
