Status Updates From Pourquoi la guerre ?

The introduction of this book posits that War, Real War is back…….. because of Russia/Ukraine. Then asks the question: war never really left it’s just mostly been proxy wars so why does this feel different? My guess is Europeans are racist so watching white people get murdered in War means it’s a Real War, but let’s see if it gets any deeper than that.

‘Global war’ - Terrorist acts by ‘global’ enemy with no fixed national identity symbolic > goal is the act > need to respond with tanglible result (illusory assassinations) > ‘counterterrorism plus’ less boots on ground > ‘interventions’ by coalition of state (air strike/ground troop > security vacuum > counter-insurgency > environment leading to ‘chaos creating wars’ by autocratic regimes

A war consisting of an ‘exchange of death’

War has to be seen as a reaction to injustice, a defensive act or it is referenced as raids, pillages
