I feel like if you set out to make mathematics intuitive and approximate, and you end up getting into the details of optimized algorithms for precisely calculating billions of digits of pi, without even attempting to explain why those algorithms converge on pi, you have completely lost the plot. Ironically, that was the part that most interested me so far.
