I get it, these are very grim and dark times, but I kind of miss the dynamic and emphatic Alith. Him feeling nothing but hate and single minded drive for vengeance has significantly flattened the character. I hope with purpose.
Also, a nice inverted spin on the Two Towers Rohan pursuit.

NB. The story appears to run alongside Caledor as I'm sure we'll find out about his part in the war there.

Things are moving a bit too fast and easy for my taste, but then again we are retreading events from the previous book so the less repetition the better in that regard.

Alright, I have been floundering a bit between books, nothing really hooking me, but I'm getting invested in this.:)

It's good, I'm more invested in Alith than I was expecting (which wasn't a whole lot).
I do hope we get different POVs rather than exclusively from his.
