My favoite part about this book is how it has detailed illustrations and still has valuable information that you can still read very easily like, "North Vietnam was violating the neutrality of both LOAS and Cambodia" (Zimmerman 57). It gives a detailed story with pictures to go with it.

The author is very descriptive in her writing style and I like it a lot. There are almost entire paragraphs dedicated to describing different things in the book. While the family was eating dinner, the main character "molded [her] fufu into small balls with [her] fingers, dipped it in the soup, making sure to scoop up the fish chunks, and then brought it to [her] mouth" (Adichie 12).

I haven't read a graphic novel in a very long time, so I was excited to see if I liked it or not. Turns out, graphic novels are definitely not my favorite genre. The book itself was okay, and the war facts were cool, but it still wasn't for me. I don't really like all of the pictures. I would much rather read either a sci-fi or fantasy book. Overall, I don't think I will finish this book.
