Status Updates From Barefoot Gen, Volume Nine: ...

I'll probably finish this the next time I read it whenever that will be.
I think it's important when reading Barefoot Gen to remember that you are reading satire to some extent.
That way you won't be annoyed by the exaggerated caricature fights, because things like that are there to lighten the mood of a story that's very dark and heavy.
Like, we literally had someone dying each book so far, a family, a friend.

I think by this point there is no shadow of a doubt that this is the real life story of Keiji Nakazawa himself but with different character names.

Page 66 Gen laughing maniacally as three spirals appear in the background, reminds me so much of Junji's Uzumaki 😂

Not sure when I'll finish this since I'll write again tomorrow. But I am not going back to Monster until I at least finish this 9th book of Barefoot Gen.
