Status Updates From The Aurora County All-Stars

Oooo the game is so close. Houses arm is killing and Cleebo is taking over pitching. Can the All Stars keep it up or will they loose while also putting on their dance numbers for the pageant

The pageant will go on as a ode to baseball with the game also going on. I don’t know how that will work, will they be singing and dancing in the game? I’m unsure how this will go. And why is Cleebo so uncertain with it? Is it because girls will be playing in the baseball game?

Cleebo just broke the news of Houses secret about visiting “Mean man Boyd” and reading to him for a year. After he promised that he wouldn’t tell anyone if House didn’t tell anyone that Cleebo cried. What a shitty friend, but I also have to remember that these kids are like 12 in this book.

Pip (funeral home director) apparently was best friends growing up with Norwood (old man who died). Apparently Norwood was really nice and stood up for Pip. Which was huge since Pip was a black man who wanted to play baseball but wasn’t allowed too.

Also Pip’s great granddaughter is Frances and told House that she has good intentions even if she broke his elbow last summer.

House went to go get Eudora from the dead man’s house and ran into the funeral home director. Don’t know why he is there and the funeral director was confused why House was there.

House is there to find the hidden message that the dead guy left for him. Since apparently he knew House’s mom.

France’s and House were just about to get into a heated argument when she was swept away by her family due to “family business”. When the other kids went to ask who died since France’s was picked up in a hearse. They all find that that the man who they call Mean Man Boyd doors.

Which I’m pretty sure that was the guy who died while House was over there reading to him earlier in secret.

Frannie/Finesse is trying to rally people together for this pageant which just sounds like a talent show. It seems like alot of kids parents signed them up without asking. That just seems crazy to me, but I think this book takes place in the 60s so that might have been the norm.

Instead of being at practice for their July 4th game. The team is at this pageant that their moms signed them up for. I don’t understand of by pageant they mean like talent show because it’s the 1960’s? Or do they actually mean beauty pageant?

Oof we are only a few pages in and there is already a depressing death. Also this book I’m pretty sure is made for kids but I don’t give a shit. I got it in a blind date with a book. I’m intrigued.
