I find it qutie fascinating how much Gnosticism borrowed from ancient Judaism(on the one hand) and ancient Platonism(on the other hand). The early Christian heresiologists have given us plenty of reliable info about ancient Gnosticism and It's various adherents(for the most part)

This book by Birger A. Pearson is going to be a treat to read on ancient Gnosticism, given that Birger A. Pearson is an leading expert on ancient Gnosticism.
