Reading about a plague when you are in bed with the head cold from hell is quite the experience. I’m not sure if it added or detracted from what was already a very confusing section of this novel.

I’m obsessed with the idea of colonized peoples being the ones to unleash plague on their colonizers and with such an elegant Trojan Horse kinda method. Very fun!

Our young hero is learning an age old lesson. Sorry, kid, Old Money AND New Money are responsible for the travesty of imperialism. And Old Money will always turn on New Money if it has to to maintain their power and position. Nepotism runs the world. Even the fictional ones. Better luck next time, lil guy. Maybe you should have sided with the trees 🤷🏻♀️
