Blech. It’s such a blatant CRIMSON PETAL knock-off, but I could deal with that—or even like it—if the writing wasn’t so awful. Flat, flat, flatter than flat, no depth to anything, no dimension or weight, just perpetual vagueness & flimsy, rushed, amateurish prose. How this got picked up by a major publisher—a Tor imprint, no less!—is beyond me.

Feels like a YA version of CRIMSON PETAL—really flat & rushed, no real grit despite the 4-letter words, no true sense of the era beyond trivial description of clothes or media. I can’t say I’m very impressed.

A lot of stuff has happened but it doesn't really seem to connect. It's literally just stuff that happened in the girl's life.
Also I'm yet to see a sex scene that's anything more than the literary equivalent of the camera panning away when things get good. There's more detail in descriptions of fake scabs than on descriptions of sex.
