Status Updates From Odium Origins: Nina's Story

Post apocalyptic w/zombies is my jam. This protagnist though... it's her pick me/not like other girl energy, while calling stay at home moms useless. 🤬 I'll put a mom on my zombie team 100 x over before I pick someone that has shown zero skills beyond being able to count.

So far, not sure I like the protagonist. She switches back and forth... gripping about how her neighbors are with their husband, but then being the same way.

Love the prequel to the first story giving us Nina's history. In all honesty though I thought there would be much more passion between her and her hubby that she mourns through the whole first book.

Everyone here is desperate. We are desperate for everything—for warmth, for life, and for more food. We are starving; I can’t blame them for being this way, but as the violence takes hold of them panic swells in my chest.

Hope. It’s like a drug to me. My own personal heroin.

Man is the devil’s bastard child that is destroying this world one person at a time. The zombies are just a side act, the backdrop to our nightmare.

I would rather be in this world—this crazy prison that I call home, where I’m constantly hungry and cold. Because hungry and cold beats dead any day. It’s a world I barely recognize myself in, but still I stay because I’m a coward.

We have traded one ruler for another, and I knew all along that this was what it would be like. It’s true what they say: the grass is always greener.

I will kill it. This thing. This monster. This deader. I will kill it and put it out of its misery. I will stop it from hurting anyone else, ever again.
