After he had satisfied his immediate hunger, Halt held up a piece of the bread that Horace had cooked in the coals.
"Did you make this?" he asked.
Horace, with some pleasure in his new skill, assured him that he had. It didn't take long for Halt to burst his bubble.
"What is it?" he asked.
Horace eyed him for a long second. "I think I preferred you when you were sick."

"Where is everybody?"
At this time of day they would expect to see people working around the farmyard. But there was nobody in sight.
"Maybe they're napping," Horace suggested. Halt glanced side long at him.
"Farmers don't nap," he said. "Knights nap."
"That's where we get the expression 'a good knight's sleep,'" Will said, smiling at his own wit. Halt turned a baleful eye on him.
"Horace is right. You're not funny."

I'm loving this book so far, but I'm worried... Halt got hurt and thisvis called Halt's peril. I'm worried this is more than it seems.

I honestly think that that statement is the most bad-A thing Halt has said as of yet.

I read it and instantly turned the page, needing to see what was about to go down.

Clear your head. Clear your mind if all distractions. Become part of the situation. Don't think, feel and sense what is around you." -Halt

The bond between these 3 men reflect greatly on Flanagans writing. I couldn't put the book down. I had to know just what "Halt's peril" was going to be. It doesn't happen at the very beginning and the anticipation of wondering when it would be kept me page turning.

. . . . . . If Halt does, I will riot!

As soon as I saw the title that is all I had to say.

The gray-bearded ranger is more than loveable in this book. It is by far the most fearsome we have seen Halt be over the entire series. It makes him all the more enduring to know that he's just like anyone else, with thoughts and feelings, even when that feeling is sadness over his not-so-great brothers death.

Finally getting back to this series!! ^.^ Hopefully I can finish it this winter!! :)

Listened to a lot yesterday while cleaning and on my long (snowy) commute this morning.

Needed something lighthearted after the last week or two, so listening to this has been great on my commute. I should finish this series before the end of the year-I listened to all on audiobook!

I have read a little bit of this book and already someone is about to die. I think the author did that because you could see how Will reacts to that.

I first read this book like four years ago and I find it interesting what my brain decided important enough to remember
