I think my idea for discrediting Tennyson is better.
They go in claiming they are deciples of the dark god like in the last book, and like Tennyson should be able to make them go away, Will could be in the audience be like yeah I saw them do that earlier, and he cant and they expose him, easy.

this is a great book so far they are tracking down a cultist group trying to steal people money and they were ambushed and one of the main characters halt was hit by a poisened arrow and they are about to find out
