Halt and Will are having a good time with their friends in the welcome-home feast.Will apologizes to Lady Pauline for almost failing her and Halt.Lady Pauline tells Will that he won't ever let Halt down.

As Tennyson tried to escape Will threw a ball even though it would make the cave collapse.Will saw how a massive rock fall where Tennyson was.After Will,Halt,Horace,and Malkallam escape they are heading home.Horace will be heading to the Castle of Araluen and Malkallam will be going back to Grimsdell Woods.Halt & Will went back to Castle Redmont. Halt reunites with Lady Pauline.They throw a welcome-home feast.

Tennyson's followers have seen that Alseiass. Halt was kind and the people leave Tennyson. With everything against Tennyson tells his men to take down Halt and his group,20 vs 4. While Halt, Horace and Malkallam are fighting, Tennyson tries to escape through a secret tunnel but Will notice him and tries to shot him before he escapes.But Malkallam's smoke balls make it difficult for Will to get an accurate shot.

Halt's plan to stop Tennyson is to disguise himself as his brother,King Ferris.Halt asks Malkallam to throw a ball in front of him to make impression.When Tennyson sees him, he is amazed and scared.Halt tell Tennyson to call for Alseiass to stop him.Most of Tennyson followers think that Alseiass will stop him but nothing happens.They start to thought about Tennyson's god.

Halt,Will,Horace, and Malkallam are ready to enter the cave where Tennyson and his followers are hiding.Malkallam has prepare balls that can make sound and smoke to help them while they're in the cave.They watch the cave as people leave and enter.The time to go in has come. Will leads the group through the cave.

Tennyson's group have settle in the caves.They made the entrance difficult to see from far distance.Will and Horace went to see if their prediction about Tennyson are true.Since Will is more silent, he went inside to investigate and Horace stay back watching for anyone who might enter the cave.As Will travels through the cave he hears voices as he enters deeper into the cave.At last Will see Tennyson.

Tennyson's group have rounded more follower of his fake religion.Without knowing that Halt,Will,Horace, and Malkallam have started following him again after Halt recovers from the poison.As Halt predicted Tennyson is heading to the cave so he can make more followers.More than 100 people are following him.Halt has to come up with a way to stop them from increasing their numberes.

Will, Horace, and Malkallam have made the Genovesan confess with just a simple method, use his poison against him.That way he would tell which type he use and what is the cure.Once Malkallam gives the cure to Halt & the Grenovesan they wait a few days for Halt to get better. Within a few days Halt seems to get better and is practicing his skills with his bow & arrow.

Will has capture the Genovesan and has brought him back to the camp.While Will is returning back, Horace and Malkallam had given Halt a drug to calm him down form the poison.Once they have the Genovesan, Horace and Malkallam are asking him questions about which type of poison did he use on the bolt that hit Halt.Will and Horace in anger beat him when he does not respond to their questions.

Will, Malkallam,and Horace have set a trap for the Genovesan. He's the only person who knows which kind of poison was used in the bolt that hit Halt in the shoulder.As Will's plan works, Genovesan does not suspect that he's being follow and when he puts his guard down, Will starts chasing him.The only problem is that Will needs the the man alive.Will is very close to the man that poisoned Halt with the deadly bolt.

I am at the part in the book where Will finished the deadly Assassin, Bacari. Saving his friends from the treacherous man. My connection to this event in the novel because I enjoyed reading it as much as Will enjoyed killing the Assassin.

Malkallam the Sorcerer has arrived to save halts' life.While Will is settling down form the trip Horace tells Will that he saw the Genovesan who shot the poisoned bolt.

What a journey this is...

Halt!!!! This can't be how it goes!

This book pick up right were the last left off. I love that these books grow and become more complex and have those lovely hidden messages to do what is right. The author is truly a magnificent writer and I have and will continue to recommend this series.

this is an emotional series but this book more so. I'm up to the point that will has come to the terms that Halt might not survive the poison from the crossbow bolt. the love that these two share for each other is so nice and more than others seem to know. they are more than father and son more than mentor and trainee, they share a bond from many battles won together and a comradeship that is unlike any other i know

Struggling to get through this book. My cousins say to keep reading, so I will. But this book is definitely not my favorite so far in the series.

Keeping with the previous 8 books! I love the humor between Halt, Will and Horace. So far I am entranced once again with Flanagan’s writing style.

Currently very emotional about what's happening in this book.

Really good!

Can't stay away. Don't want to. But imma take this as slow as I can to savour this series.

Halt is better now. He is still weak however. Will and Horace have found the outsiders.
