There is a very mysterious character that was just introduced and no one know who or what it is yet. He so far has been watching over the two main girls and stolen a locket. He sat outside watching their families interact signing "Cottoneyed Joe I be married a long time ago" and repeating those lyrics. I don't know what to think of this and how this adds to his character. I have a lot of questions.

This book is so hauntingly beautiful. I think as gripping as the art in the book is that the language used is almost equally important to the story. When Lee described recovering Billy's body from the Bayou as "[his] soul on [its] way to glory" I got chills (Love 5).

A character I find interesting is Lee. She is put in a position where her voice can not be overridden. She doesn't understand why she isn't getting heard. Here dad feels terrible but she doesn't understand. She says, " Why didn't you say something"(Love). When she was blamed for stealing a locket. I think her character will develop a lot over this graphic novel.

Bayou is a graphic novel that shared the story of an African American family consisting of a little girl named Lee and her dad living in a small town after the civil war. She goes down to a swampy part of the woods and an unsettling event occurs. Lee narrates, "Billy Glass was a bit older than me I don't know why he got killed...when I found him I got real scared, but I knew he needed that three dollars" (Love 10).

In today's reading, I noticed a big change in the plot. At the beginning of the book, it was not as crazy and chaotic. As the book went on, there were more plot twists and many things were happening at once.

This book has been very intriguing, it's about this little girl who adventures out her town with her dad. He takes her to the Bayou one day to earn himself three dollars. Lee, the protagonist in the story was terrified to go back, the Bayou has been known to suddenly take people: "I ain't been down to the Bayou ever since then. It's a bad place." It's a place where people know to stay away.
