The number of asides, tangents, blocky quotes of conclusions by other authors, and biased commentary continue to make this a hard read. Powering through for the sake of the reading challenge but I'd rather read a collection of short books on each of the murder cases.

Poor writing and editing choices make the stories a bit convoluted and difficult to follow. It is frustrating because there is so much potential in the material.

This author is full of themselves. A great deal of this introduction is references to obscure literature and French or Latin phrases, with no translations. They also restate the same point multiple times, contradicting themselves in between. I'm hoping the accounts are more palatable.
