First Chapter Done 🤭

USING AS A FANFIC PLACEHOLDER

FINALLY got done with my 2023 backlog! Now to update my "2023 on Goodreads" and then I can focus on this year of reading! ^_^

2023 brought a few gems, I listened to live interviews with Atwood, Winterson, Rushdie, Moser and Kapoor and my introduction of phenomenology to my philosophy group was a very nice experience. The last quarter of the year I did not read much because of catastrophes hitting my surroundings. What surprised me most in the after-wake were utter greed and people's lack of compassion and respect. So ugly! Read more books!

haven't had enough spoons to update here or on bookstagram but the excel sheet ive been staring at tells me i read over 100 books outside work this year. will try to update my GR stats and get back to u on that

الكتاب الاخير

The fact that I'm NOT gonna be able to finish my goal this year really bums me out bc last year I had read like 84 books by now )):
I mean I'm close, but like...yeah. I dunno. This year felt like a fever dream ngl. Tbf tho, I went through a bunch of slumps (mental/emotional, reading, writing, etc) and I'm just glad that I'm still able to enjoy reading. And that's what matters most <3

So far this year, I’ve read 60 full-length novels and novellas, which is still pretty darn good for me. I’ve also read a lot of poetry collections, a bunch of short stories (especially toward the end of the year, when I bogged down with longer works) and some shorter non-fiction.

So, I’ve done a pretty shit job of keeping this updated. It was my plan to do it as I went along, but hey ho, that plan crashed and burned early in the year.

So far so good, I’ve ready 26 books (out of 25 book reading goal…)

But also am going to use this to count the 2 fan fics that won’t be listed on here. Is it a published book? No… but did it take up a lot of my time and energy to read those beautiful words? Yes. So I’m counting it at least as “1 book” using this review!

So I might be an idiot but I decided to try for 100 books in the … 17 days remaining to 2023.

Now that I said that aloud…

I’m at almost 500/1000 goal. 😅🫶🏻
