Can’t say I like the emphasis on appearance. Would he have wanted to help her so badly if she were old and unapproved by his male gaze? I’m not a believer. Let’s talk about the good vs bad in this story too—my gosh is it oversimplified. The “baddie”? One-dimensional represents of an abusive man. The “goodies” (everyone else)? A smidge more dimension, but not much. Everyone feels very… unsubtle.
