I think I eye roll for most French inserts. It is not necessary and dare I say actually off-putting to french speakers.
I tried convincing myself that some weirdness is because of french Canadian which I do not master but I seriously doubt it... You can't just translate literally it does not work that way.
I think there probably was panic in my eye when Hunter said he started learning French, NO!
