Prayer may not be such a bad thing, i.e. meditation...

This offers a tour of the Washington Monument and other DC places without having to go through security! The worst I've experienced was coming home from China, second place: coming home from Texas. So many people tell me not to remark on the similarity of the two, but, unfortunately, I see a clear resemblence. My preference is for Chinese food. Anyway, I'm glad importing tea is not deemed dangerous by the feds yet.

Hahaha, Wexler is begging to not return this book for a bit more than 150 more pages! He seems to be more of an entertainer than an academic. Maybe that is why I found this in the public library.

"Senate Prayer Suspicion" is this chapter's title. Is prayer before an event constitutional? Well, it's no harm to take the time others are praying to, say, meditate.

This new chapter is about the religious display ruckus. Most years I visit the Tree of Knowledge by the West Chester courthouse around Christmastime. Then, my family has an obnoxious inflatable Santa Claus on a polar bear balloon that goes up maybe November and lasts until a few days after the holiday. It's "cute", by which I mean tacky and low class. Dad loves it, though, so it stays. Every year.

Anarchy! I barely knew there were Amish outside Lancaster before reading Wexler.

I researched what limberger cheese was, purportedly an insanely popular Wisconsin cheese - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limburger - oh. Now Jessica's cheesehead Packers hat makes more sense. As I recall, my Atmospheric professor comes from a famous Wisconsin meteorology school my aunt's friend did! He encouraged me to give my big Meteorology project on the weather in China, which in Guizhou is BORING. "Hot" or 『热 的』

Wexler does not mask any of his thoughts - including his irrational fear of mice. At least he is honest! Is honesty worth more than rationality?

So Victoria does not have an exotic animal by Pennsylvanian law: her rabbit is not a bear, coyote, lion, tiger, leopard, jaguar, cheetah, cougar or wolf.

I got my mother interested in this. She loves the cover. Also, I may be studying law more seriously next year.

Poor guy. Animal carcasses in the window is not a solely Santerian custom! Chinatown. The restaurant. Duck in the window.

What's an orisha? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orisha Okay, a spirit practicers of Santería, Candomblé, Anago, Oyotunji, Umbanda, Winti, Obeah, Vodun. People from Africa, South America, and the Caribbean believe it, with smaller followings in North America, Europe and Asia. Wait, fascists? That was just in an insult.

Religious museums bring to mind the creationist museum lampooned by P.Z. Myers. This book is a little on the casual side, but as this person is clearly a law professor, I'll put up with the style. (After all, it's from the public library, not the University one!)

As far as I can see, Wexler is mostly complaining about how hard it is to be a Jew in New York. "Hebrew school sucked." Well... perhaps it will get more interesting shortly?

Immediate Beowulf reference makes me approve of this author more, even if it were to a part I hadn't read yet.

Ee, this is scary! From 2009, recent history. Should I restate my personal secular creed soon? Politically that's a bad idea. Is the world split orthodox/progressive? "[S]ome of the most repressive ideologies in recent history have vehemently denied the existence of the divine." Like the Soviet regime? Chuang Tzu = Zhuangzi. should I take a road trip to study, too? New York state is the setting of Chapter 1.

This time I left it on a bus, I'm trying to see if there's a lost and found that I can get it back from. Not sure who doesn't want me to finish it.

I had to return it to the library but I'm putting it on hold again, so good so far.
