I actually was able to push through this, though it was a bit of a slog at times. This feels actually more of a setup than volume 13 did. After the Ariel thing comes the Shirone conflict. It probably will not give me the same level of excitement as the peak that is volume 17, but I am looking forward to it. That said, it does not change the fact that I really do not like this progression of the Mercenary Band thing.

I have become sleepy.

I still do not like where this volume is going, but the only thing that I particularly am not fond of is the Mercenary Band. Otherwise this seems a bit similar to, maybe a bit worse than, 13. Also after sifting some reddit threads on this volume/arc, it seems like the “roller coaster“ that is 19 to 26 is “better“ than that of 14–17.

Just been in a bad mood before I started reading. Anyway, in this chapter I know see my problems with this volume. It kind of veered off from the general fantasy focus on the previous ones. Like, it just kind of removed most of the stuff that I liked about this series originally, and turned into this job thing. The school was now not in focus, and I am only looking forward to Geese, nothing else.

You know I saw that one video by Espi claiming this to be the worst volume. I honestly kind of disagree. This reminds me of volume 13, which followed that big hydra fight. They would probably end the third anime season at 17, so I would expect this to be a sort of refresher. Still, I did rate it 1 star. Why could I have done that?

So the chapter that I was trying to search last night about a girl being saved was actually this one. Interesting that I tried to look for it just when I hit this specific volume.

Did not know I rated this so low. The diary chapter is nice. Instead of giving a whole SoL volume, looks like they picked this format to catch up with events. This made it more obvious how neglecting Rudeus is as a father though.
