So far I got through the author's notes, Jamal's introduction and chapter 1.
I'm hooked.
1) because it's a story that focuses on a middle aged woman and mother nonetheless. That is on that common in fantasy
2) because religion is quite central to the character and that is often... Religion often doesn't feel real in fantasy; so having a Muslim MC grounds it a lot. I have more thoughts but no space to type them...
