I wasn't aware that this is Duras' script for the movie by Alain Resnais of the same name. I thought the film was based on her book.
Interesting to read the exposé setting the mood for the movie and outlining the message to be transmitted. A love not being possible anywhere else. The location is beyond any question of illegitimacy of the love between two lovers both married.
