Which Iliana is talking to which Ro now? I am quickly remembering why this book and the next one (The Never-Ending Sacrifice) were my least favorite. I seem to recall I didn't even finish The Never-Ending Sacrifice.

found it eventually, hidden in luggage, a lightpaperback to take during travels. It's another alternative-universe with doubles, dopplegangers etc which isn't a favorite in the ST genre. Good to escape at least in a few pages when ending each day in busy travels
