Families of suitors uproar in the aftermath but Zeus strike lightning and kills the aggressor. The Gods want an end to the bloodshed. Story end in a feast and the people of Ithaca welcoming him back. They enjoy listening to his adventures and recounts of his journey home

The suitors treat him like shit. He reunites with Penelope unbeknownst to her. She’s decided that she’ll marry whoever can string Odysseus’ bow and shoot it through 12 axes. None of them can. Disguised as the beggar, he does it and reveals himself. Suitors pretend they didn’t mean harm but it’s all bs. Odysseus and Telemachus kill em all with Athena’s power as help.

Telemachus meets his father after Athena warned him that Penelope's suitors were trying to kill him. Odysseus promises that with their strength, guile, and help from Athena, they'll destroy them together.

Odysseus finishes his recount of his journey to the Phaeacians and they sail him back to Ithaca. Greeted by Athena, she tells him men are trying to fight for his throne and Penelope. Tells him to go to swineherd, Eumaeus, while she goes to Sparta to get Telemachus. Disguised as an old man, he lies about who he is and some story about a cloak because he’s cold and wanted the men to give him an extra layer. Why lie?

The wind sweeps them to the Thrinacian coast and surprise surprise ofc Odysseus' crew eats Hyperion's forbidden sheep and cattle. Zeus thunderbolts their ass and Odysseus is stranded until he washes up on Calypso's island. He tells her he wants to get home but she falls in love and he ends up staying (against his will?) for 7 years until Zeus orders her to let him go. He builds a ship from scratch and sails off

Circe warned Odysseus about the whirlpool monster Charybdis, who stretch her cat tentacles to swirl the water to create a devouring whirlpool. Gives him wax to plug his ears so he doesn’t fall victim to the siren songs. He gives it to his crew instead and he was almost seduced by the song but was tied down to the mast. Scylla devoured six crew. “I did not realize that our greatest trial was still to come.”

Circe told him Zeus decreed he visit the spirits of the dead in the underworld before he returns home. Sacrificed ram and black ewe and use blood to summon spirits, pray to Hades and Persephone and burn the sheep to talk to them. Teiresias, prophet, tells him to avoid Hyperion’s sheep island and there’s unwelcome guests in his home. Mom died of heartbreak, Achilles, Agamemnon wife killed him after returned home

Circe’s chapter!

Aeolus, guardian of the four winds gifted Odysseus a bag of three “captured winds.” The West wind would blow them home to Ithaca. But his crew greedily opened the bag and they got blown back away to sea.

Conveniently left out the part where Circe was nothing but inviting and they tried to SA HER WHICH IS WHY SHE TURNED THEM TO PIGS. But I guess it is a children’s book. Off to Hades soon

Meets the Cyclops, Polyphemus. He eats six crew before Odysseus blinds his eye. “Noman has attacked me. Noman is hiding in my cave.” — very cunning. He got cocky after and exposed his real name.

Son of Poseidon, prayed to his father to make his return him long and miserable. “May he never see his home again.” So that explains it!

To this day, I still don’t know if Helen left Menelaus willingly or if she was abducted by Paris. I thought it was the latter as depicted in TSOA, but the movie Troy with Brad Pitt, she was happy with Paris!

At the start of the chapter, “Helen had run off to Troy with Paris” a few pages later, “Helen returned to Sparta in triumph with her husband Menelaus.” SOMEONE WHO STUDIED GREEK LITERATURE PLS TELL ME
