... also the unexpected trans representation (published in 2007?!) was cool... but then kicking Yelena out, after she just saved your life sir? Hopefully the second is just as good as the first. The opening pages were very flowery in terms of prose but I either got used to it or it got toned down.. overall, I'm feeling a solid 4, maybe 4.5? Enjoyed it and glad I got my hands on it finally

Finished this a couple of days ago, jumped at the chance to read it through hoopla bc I couldn't find it anywhere else until now! And it didn't disappoint. The romance was kinda tepid but that's fine w me bc the plot delivered -- the life of a poison taster is certainly not dull. And the setting (to me this fits a dystopia aka I'm too lazy to create a new shelf)...
