Okay. Once I'm done with medical school secondaries I'll pick this one back up. I read the little note my thesis advisor scribbled in the front cover of my copy again(this was a gift after I wrote about medieval surgery)-- and it rekindled how special it was for him to gift me this book. It's honestly really good it's just been too tedious for a fiction read as I complete a concurrent theology degree...

The story, characters, and many things they discuss are very interesting. But I take issue with either the translation or the editing or both. Certain passages can be entirely skipped over. I suppose they drone on to convey the feeling of one character listening to another (being lectured to or talked at), but I feel it is just too much. Invested in the story though.

This is the very peak critique of religion. Adso thinks that god must be the one putting this girls image everywhere. Instead of locating the impetus in himself.

ذات مساء جلب انتباهي فيلم ولم أكن رأيت عنوانه
وهكذا شاهدت منه قرابة النصف ساعة
لم أكن مرتاحة شيء ما رغم جما الفيلم بدا مألوفا
وبعدها جاء الاشهار وجاء العنوان
ركضت قلبت لمسلسل كوري حتى لا أحرق الاحداث
ولكنها علقت بذهني وقررت ان ابدأ فيها حتى أصل لنقطة الفيلم التي تركتها معلقة او تركتني للامانة
والان بعد السفر في انتظار شوية هدوء وصديقتي لتظهر وتشاركني القراءة او تلحقني 😝

Fiquei surpreso quando vi que eu dei 3/5 quando eu o li pela primeira vez. Nessa releitura, mesmo ainda na primeira metade, já sei que ele vai merecer uma nota muito melhor.

Legal ver que é muito mais um livro de suspense policial do que qualquer coisa - com nuances religiosas que dão inúmeras camadas a ele. Ótimo!
