This book, which i found after i had read it as a 16 year old. This book inspired me to go out. Escape home and go running. I imagined my teenage self that i was a running machine. Overcoming all obstacles. I m looking forward to reading it again.

I loved the book so much when I was a teenager, I read it three times. I'm really happy that I still like the book...

I read this book when it first came out in 1982 and loved it. Provided some inspiration and motivation to run my first marathon. Am now rereading it 30+ years later! inspired by a friend's plan to run across the USA next year. Excellent book, and though the names have changes inspired by fact ( The Bunion Derby). Highly recommended.

They're running across Kansas now. I pity them. Driving across is bad enough.

Gripping opening chapters...I had no idea anyone had ever attempted such a feat in the 1930s. Amazing! And I have no clue whet happens! I'm riveted!
