I needed a good audiobook for the several car rides I'm making over the next couple of days, so I chose something short and truly Halloweeny.

I understand why this was made into a movie. I have trouble understanding who the narrator is and who they are talking to. Doing it on Audio.

Yes I am only a little ways in but wow. The voice of this book is amazing. You cant help but read it with the voice of a southern narrator in a kind of campy, Gothic horror movie. The cadence? How do you even have a cadence in a novel? Idk. His word choice and sentence construction give a cadence, somehow. It's just really cool. Perfectly captures the vibe of fall, southern horror.

This book has a very Classic Spooky Story vibe that I'm enjoying.

the way this is written is just so fucking weird. I can kinda see what it’s trying to go for with classic horror movie subplots and perspective changes but holy shit. the rambling goes on and on for pages at a time like YES I GET IT HES MISERABLE ABOUT HIS SON BUT HAS TO KEEP GOING FOR HIS FAMILY jfc

On page 35 I switched to an audiobook bc LORD

Idk i’m not a big fan of how this is written like at all, it’s scrambled, all over the place, and it’s just such a weird perspective

also i thought pete was the one that was starved??? i’m assuming mitch and the other two were the same guys holding the weapons by pete’s house but ?!!?? do they all fast for 5 days before the Run?!! wtf is going on man

it’s 1 pm and i haven’t slept and i’m in a barnes and noble i have to get home before i get even sleepier lawl

i like pete and the october boy, the writing feels a bit.. much? idk how to describe it yet
