One of these times I will actually manage to read this book in October! Either way it still rules so hard.

For some reason istruggle reading simple words in this book that i normally domt in other books. I dont know what thats about.

The vibe is spooky but not loving the obvious disdain for tiny rural Midwestern towns.

1. Is Mitch Crenshaw just still chilling with the frogs in the field by the end of the book?

2. Did no one own plastic garbage bags in 1960 if Pete's sister has to pack light?

3. Where is Jim Shepard's mom at all throughout all of this?

4. Why were there no people showing up to the church to check to see the new "winner"?

5. What happened to the rest of the guild members?

I’m understanding the hype surrounding this novella. There’s so much story in such a small package. This is great.

This is getting SO GOOD.

If my Supernatural Training is correct, 'The Run' definitely something Pagan. Also the plot resembles S1E11 Scarecrow. I would say call the Winchesters, but it's 1963 and they aren't born yet. 😬

Not really sure if this is for me...a bit too action/suspense for what I was expecting.

Got a bad feeling about this next part...

This is one of the most disturbing books I have ever read, and horror is my favorite genre. But holy moly, this disturbed me as much as the Terrifier movies… and I love it!

Umm.... I'm starting to think there is more going on with this town....

This is getting good! I can't remember when I've seen this many standard tropes layered together so seamlessly. The omniscient, infinitive tense narration is a bit weird without a character to voice the narration.

Sending a bunch of starving teenage boys to chase after a supernatural avatar that resurrects every year? What could possibly go wrong?

Not really love it

I appreciate that we took the dad worth. That Pete took something away from Jim's father's death. It feels less like he died for nothing this way.

I like the parallels between the movie theater and the October Boy. The burned up memories and film reel..

"You remember this part, don't you?"

That was such a killer one liner. Just such a Boss Move line, and it could have stayed that way had we not acted like the audience is stupid as hell and spent an entire paragraph explaining why it was a Boss line.

It should have just been..
'You remember this part, don't you?'
