Holy SHIT this book is just as heart-wrenching as it was 15 years ago, and so many images have stuck with me- Sierra's dad not fitting on the gurney, Uncle Max sticking his cigar behind his ear like it's a roll of Life Savers he intended to sample later. I was so ready to be disappointed, but so far, NOPE.
