I think that Iain and Leigh might finally find out the secret about the island they have been living on. I don't think this secret is good at all but I am unsure what it is exactly. I also wonder if other townsfolk are in on it?? But Leigh is having the worst time in her life - everything is falling apart.

They can go search for the truth, but I have a feeling they won't like what they find. My gut feeling says this island has some dark secrets and that is based off of some of the things the islanders have started to do to protect themselves from the Sluagh.

I am enjoying this story set on a small Scottish island. It's about the Sluagh (sloo-ah) that come every October. They look like crows but they are spirits of the dead. And now a young man named Hugo is missing. Everyone has given up looking but Leigh. I never heard of the Sluagh before but the town seems very broken and unhappy?

This story and the setting and the writing and the vibes are immaculate but to the extent there’s supposed to be a romance brewing, ehhhh, not sure it actually adds anything to the story, which is a touch disappointing.

“She would find Hugo if she had to search every inch of this island herself with nothing but her own bare hands.”

I would probably hit my race pace goals if I was as frightened as Leigh in this book running around 😂

Just started this one and I don't like how empty the pages look. There are barely any words on them

It was initially a very slow start for me, but now the book is very much picking up and getting very good.

Really wish I stuck to my original schedule to read this in October/November, it's got those autumnal vibes that woulda been *chef's kiss* in autumn before snow.

I know Leigh can’t see it right now, but the sluagh take Sam… it would be fine. What a little shit.

I still have no idea what this book is all about but it’s probably one of the best I’ve read so far

I think, that at this time, I have now been introduced to the two MCs. Leigh and Iain...not to mention the CROWS (in threes). I love the descriptive language and the bits and pieces of Iain's story (who is Caroline?).
I know there is more to come, not to forget the slaugh:
Taking care of windows with charms to prevent them from coming, yet opening the West Window to invite them in to carry you away... Intriguing.
