It’s a slow start.

So far so good! Been a good audiobook.

Here’s the story of how I came to listen to this book that has an f’ing bear as one of its main characters…my local library has a BUNCH of the newer books in this series on audio. Now, I’ve changed a lot over the years but jumping into a series on book fifteen? Nope, can’t do that, just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. So I asked if they could get book one AND THEY did! Hooray for libraries!

It is taking forrrrever for things to move along. But also, it's taking me forever to read this book.

Already can’t put it down! Reading Paul Doiron reminds me of when I lived in Vermont. So refreshing after the last book I read

Gripping, incredible page turner. READ it! #1 in his Mike Bowditch series.

So far, which isn’t far, this book is exceeding expectations. Unfortunately there was a bit of cringeworthy sexism in the beginning. The audible narrator’s version of a Maine accent sounds a bit too Boston at times but it’s still entertaining. Honestly, I don’t know if someone outside of New England would enjoy it as much.

I missed the earlier books in this series, so I’m slowly going back and reading them

It’s good. I am a little confused on the Warden setup. I’m sure it will become more clear as the book progresses. I keep going back to it.

At the end of ch 20 Mike says that he's officially awol from his job bc he had to choose whether to go to a meeting with his boss or to get on a plane and go try to help his dad. What year is this? are there no cell phones? was there not a phone in his aprtmnt before he left where he might have, I don't know, called his boss and said hey I'm not going to make it? Nope, he just takes off. It's stupid.

A little free library find I brought home for Peter and then poached. Haha.

I just started this morning but am so drawn in already...it's so tempting to "call in sick" and read all day. But I can't do that. Can I?

Just opened it today. Eager to get into it!

Deep in the woods of Maine, I like it.

This was recommended as similar to the CJ Box books, which I have loved. That will be a tough comparison to live up to.

Brenda is a wild, idiotic sad piece of trash. Poor pathetic little thing.
