Nice, slow read with a lovely narrator. They could be talking about types of soil and I’d love it.

Or maybe this is a secret alternative universe where Agatha Christie was Shakespeare

Is it suspicious that a supposed librarian thinks “By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes” is originally from Agatha Christie, or is the writer herself just ignorant?

First lines | PROLOGUE // THERE WAS SOMETHING BUZZING. A fly. Unable to move, he could only listen to its whining drone and try to follow it round the small room in his head. Where was it? Near the sinks? The drain in the floor?

I really didn’t care much for this. The ending left me thinking “what?”

Ch. 36, 5:17:31 hours - So obvious 🙄, boring 🥱, too many characters 😖, confusing and poor investigating 😕, I solved this in chapter 23, everything since has just been confirmation 🤔.

Ch 23, 3:29:06 hours - Is it too late to quit? The connections are obvious and I think I have solved the kidnapping.

Ch. 19, 2:57:00 - This is all over the place with the timeline and on my nerves.

Ch. 10, 1:31:11 hours - While the characters are more lively that her Kate Waters books, the story is utterly bland and reminds me of a dull beach mystery like The Last Houseguest, lots of talking and no action. Opening sucks you in, like Something In The Water, but nothing but fillers and circles after the prologue, 7 chapters for the "mystery" and it's not a good one. It's a whodunit without the what at the moment.

Ch. 4, 44:49 minutes - I have no idea what's going on. I got 3 characters out of 4 and its just talking with various timelines. Starting over, I hope this isn't a dud. I know her other books were slower paced.

The opening scene was so good!
What happened after that?
The writing does not feel the same.
It seems a bit convoluted, but let’s see how it goes.
Perhaps I’m not in the right mood.

This one should be a fast read.
It’s divided into 72 chapters.
