Yeah this is so good. Keeps getting better. Our new Sunday School quarter begins in a few weeks (so I am rushing to finish) but this is more than likely the primary book that they will use to teach our class on the Doctrine of Scripture.

Man, this has been so good. Probably the best introduction to Scripture I have read. His method is excellent, his sources stellar, and his writing clear. I’m hoping he stays consistent!

The focus of this chapter is Jesus, how he understood, treated, and applied the Scriptures. To Jesus the Scriptures were the final appeal to faith, they were the reason he became flesh, died and rose, it was the Word of God yet written through men inspired by the Spirit, it was clear, true, sufficient, and effective. The only correct response to the Scriptures is to hear it, believe it, and put it into practice.

Summary— Throughout history much attention has been given to the doctrine of the scripture because to know God you must know his word. Thompson believes that a proper understanding of the doctrine of scripture always begins with Jesus Christ at the center.
