Altogether this is book 1 and it was written in the 1970s and it makes me miss the way old school epic fantasy was written. You can feel the magic spill off the page as well as how the villain movies behind the shadows. Im going to be buying book 2 because Katherine Kurtz has earned my trust as a reader.

What a jump back in time with this fantasy author you can tell the 1970s fantasy writing style with how long the prologue is and how dry the writing is compared to todays modern fantasy but you know what that long prologue even though it is verbose gives a good backstory before the main story takes off and the villian shows herself toward the end of the prologue and I honestly cant wait to see where this book goes
