What's most depressing is Stan's GREED. He, his wife, and MPD daughter were all profligate spenders. What an unhappy family! No better is megalomaniacal King Kirby, who comes across poorly as a glory hound and similarly money obsessed. Was it their being Depression-era kids or their Jewish heritages? I'm disillusioned and disenchanted with both men.

Love the conflicting accounts Reisman has assembled of Marvel's creation. Stan and Jack are both a pair of egomaniacal liars is my takeaway. Sad.

Enjoying this book way more than the Spurgeon's soft soap. It's not a hit piece. It shows Lee as a desperately unhappy guy who had a love for money and prestige coupled with a spendthrift wife. Lee never read or loved comics, which is sad.

Why do I do this to myself?
Knowledge may be power, but knowing the truth doesn't always bring happiness.
I like Stan Lee. I've actually seen Stan speak at a ComicCon. Yeah I knew he too more credit than he'd earned, but I saw him as a co-creator who took full credit, not as a guy who had contributed nothing and took full credit.
Maybe don't read this if you don't want to see Stan as a schmuck.
