the wv incest joke is so original and funny and definitely adds to her completely boring story

we disagree so so much rn and i think this may be the most hypocritical section of a book ive ever read

ok the chapter on her belittling herself and her sexuality due to abuse she faced was so real and felt v important to include. only good thing so far. yet immediately ruined by her making a long list of celebs in the 'lesbian canon' which included the jonas bros and stuff like 'regina king's neck and shoulders' like CAN WE UNPACK WHAT YOU YOURSELF JUST WROTE DEEPER????

i know these essays are *about* lesbianism and queerness within pop culture but it's just screaming of white millennial suburban lady who can only explain and experience things through the lens of fandom and i'm sooooo bored! also she keeps references comedy and being funny and she simply isn't. it's all so surface level it's beginning to piss me off

not really a fan of the millennial tone of this i think i just don't like the writer's voice. i'm curious how deep she will get into these topics though or if it will be surface level personal anecdotes w boring white twitter swiftie humour the whole time...
