Seeing that Lauren includes so many degenerative and mental illnesses actually brings me some comfort. Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s, anxiety with panic attacks… finally, a book where I can truly relate. The portrayal of anxiety and panic attacks feels real, and the depiction of degenerative memory loss in older people hits close to home.
