It started a bit slow and confusing. But I am invested in his mother’s story. I feel so bad for her.

Wow. This book really pulls you in and captivates you in a way that I didn't expect it to. This wasn't really what I was expecting from this book but I can say that I am having a good time reading this if you can call reading about the thoughts of a madman and other characters a good time.

How did I do this again?? I accidentally got ahold of another psychological thriller. Now I don’t think I’ll be able to finish it. I simply cannot read these kind of books. They stay with me forever! When I begin reading these thrillers, I can’t stop myself, and yet with every page I turn, I know I need to quit or it will be seared on my brain forever. I’m stopping this one NOW! It’s just too scary!

I like the way hazel and jenny’s relationship is described. Extremely flawed and sometimes uncomfortable, but it’s also real and gives a lot of dimension to the characters individually, especially hazel

The memories seemed to follow, kicked up like dust beneath her tires. She had known the underbelly of this land, smelled the rancid bloom of its decay, seen the ghosts that floated hazy through the night. She knew what this place was capable of.
This whole thing is surprisingly beautifully written, it's absolutely lovely. With a horrid subject matter!

I feel for Hazel. She so badly wants her sister to see reality for what it is.
