Just finished book II and book I is still my favourite! It wasn’t super clear to me the timeline or the lineage of the characters, they share names and there are links in their histories, but I’m still a bit uncertain. Book II was predominantly a letter from father to son and featured Hawaiian culture and its commercialisation.
